Vacuum Fluctuations Trigger State Switching in Biased Optical Parametric Oscillators

Researchers analyze how quantum vacuum fluctuations can drive macroscopic switching in a biased degenerate optical parametric oscillator, and how an external bias field can reshape the system’s bistable landscape. The work offers a clearer picture of noise-assisted dynamics relevant to photonic computing and probabilistic quantum hardware.

HORNET method reconstructs high-order harmonic emission using delayed polarization perturbation

Researchers have demonstrated an all-optical in situ technique for timing the emission of high-order harmonics by introducing a delayed, cross-polarized replica of the driving infrared pulse. The approach, called HORNET, uses a weak ellipticity perturbation and ptychographic retrieval to reconstruct individual harmonic fields and their temporal profiles.
